Britta Kelch, born in 1979, trained as an orthopaedic technician and gained work experience in crafts and industry before she began her studies. She initially completed the bachelor's programme ‘Health Communication’ (2007-2010) and subsequently the master’s programme ‘Public Health’ (2010-1012) at Bielefeld University. Her master's thesis was about "Prevention services for socially disadvantaged target groups using the example of commercial sex workers". During the master's programme Britta Kelch worked as a research assistant in the Working Group 6 (Health Services Research and Nursing Science) as well as a tutor for students attending the earlier semesters.
Since April 2013 she is working as a research associate and doctoral student on the topic "Strengthening the self-management skills of adolescents with attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD)" in the Working Group 4 (Prevention and Health Promotion). Her research project is embedded in the research network ‘User-oriented health care for people with chronic conditions and long-term care needs (NuV)’ between the Bielefeld University and the University of Applied Sciences Bielefeld.
The focus of her research activity and interests is on the areas of prevention and health promotion for health disadvantaged groups.
